Trash reduction starts at home! Our partner, the City and County of Honolulu has 10 convenient public refuse locations for residents to drop off their household waste to avoid excess trash finding its way onto the street, into our storm drains, and into the ocean. These include seven convenience centers in Waimanalo, Waianae, Waipahu, Ewa Beach, Kapolei, Laie, and Wahiawa; and three transfer stations in Kailua, Haleiwa, and Honolulu. Green waste drop off is also available at Hawaii Earth Recycling, the City and County of Honolulu’s contractor located in Wahiawa.
Residents are allowed to bring a maximum of two loads per day to these disposal sites, and acceptable items vary from site to site. While convenience centers serve residents only, transfer stations accept waste from both residents and businesses. See the full list of locations below.
